Description

To learn American English isn’t much different from learning the English language in general. However, given the number of places around the world that English is spoken, various differences are bound to emerge. American English often differs in intonation, word stress, and vocabulary, and to a much lesser extent, grammar and sentence structure.

American English is commonly spoken in North America and is native to an approximate 300 million people, who speak this North American English dialect locally.

The first large American dictionary, (An American Dictionary of the English Language) known as Webster’s Dictionary, was written by Noah Webster in 1828, radically changing some of the British English spelling to more phonetically spelling.

For example in American English, “colour” is spelt as color,  “Grey” is spelt as Gray, “jewellery” is spelt as jewelry, removing any extra letters that are not pronounced.

With our American English online course, you will learn the common words and phrases, and take part in conversations by forming sentences.

Learn American English today, and speak like the locals in the de facto language of the USA in no time!
